Probably a stupid question...
Probably a stupid question...
but if I replace the OEM brake pads and disks (with Mintex/EBC Turbo Grooved respectively) does that count as a mod that I should tell the insurance company about?
My car? Oh, it's the little yellow thing over there.

what a stupid question...
its your shout on that - most (decent) insurers will not charge any extra for that.
The sh*t ones will use any excuse to charge you something.
TBH, they probably wouldnt ever know or find out whether it was upgraded or not unless they read the forum!
if it was me, i would just mention it to them and argue the point that its to improve braking so you shouldnt have to pay anything more.

Re: Probably a stupid question...
IIRC the only issue is some pagids technically aren't road pads and therefore if they weren't warm and you piled into the back of someone they may say it was your fault.
Could be a load of sh*t though.

Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

Re: Probably a stupid question...
correct but if you've fitted pads which arent to the relevant road spec they *might* choose not to pay out.

Presumably RS42s count as road spec?Lazydonkey wrote:IIRC the only issue is some pagids technically aren't road pads and therefore if they weren't warm and you piled into the back of someone they may say it was your fault.

I've got to phone up insurers tomorrow to inform them of the nitrons that are being fitted to my car at the mo - what sort of price hike have people experienced in the past with uprated dampers?
Re: Probably a stupid question...
i declared my nitrons this year as i forgot the year before didnt cost me any more, but as i said above, it depends on your insurer. The insurer will probably try to charge you an admin fee (between 15 and 20 quid) - spit the dummy out when this happens and then they will do it £FOC.... hopefully_ali wrote:Presumably RS42s count as road spec?Lazydonkey wrote:IIRC the only issue is some pagids technically aren't road pads and therefore if they weren't warm and you piled into the back of someone they may say it was your fault.
