Battery appears to be on the way out...
Car only left for two days and it won't fire.
Any recommended kwik fit stylee places that I can just drop in to get the liz's battery replaced?

can't be that hard?
Halfrauds will probably fit one for a fee.

My knuckles are dreading the experience hence I want to get someone else to do it...

oh well, my days at work's spent ripping my knuckles apart on fitting 1/4" nuts, so in perspective...

I've never done it on an S1 myself but have seen my mate try and the gap for the battery to come out isn't much bigger than the battery itself.

Getting a battery that fits is easy, getting one with a handle and modifying the clamp is the tricky bit.
If the one you have in has no handle then good luck

I got mine from Costco for £26. Halfords couldn't even fit a lightbulb for me, instead just dropped a screw driver on my clam, mumbled something then walked off.

I just replace mine a month back, got a bosch silver 420. It fits perfectly without having to play with the bracket. Only took me bout an hour to change them over. Biggest problem was one of the bolts on the bracket needed its head chopped off. Once you have this off if you turn the battery onto its side(making sure all the ports on top are shut) and pull hard. The radiator surround is flexible & you have to push the wiring loom out the way before hand.
Putting in is the reverse, but the bosch has a handle which made life far easier.
I think it was 31 bucks. Got it in a motor factors in Stirling.

Had mine done by Kwick Fit darn sarf about 4 times now. Smart looking car so the manager usually does it and brings a few moneys too. Generally takes them about an hour as it is a total bugger. I normally hang around so they are over cautious about any damage taking off the rad surround etc.
They also guarantee it so when it next dies it might be covered, had a couple in the last few years that have worked loose and shorted themselves and have been replaced FOC.
Another one for for the DIY section ?!
