Any advice/experience? Need to change the engine on my 340R after a rolling road blow up
Re: HONDA
Worth a search on the forum (top right of the page) as there have been a few threads recently - one specifically on DIY options IIRC.
along by the way - nasty to hear about it blowing up on the rollers. Any further info about that, or is it ongoing?

Re: HONDA
JPS in Newcastle are probably the nearest place to get it fitted - they do the Link Up kit which is probably the best option for up here. Don't know very much about it though, so do your homework!
What happened to the 340R engine - do you want to sell off any of the scrap? Always on the look out for spare parts!
Cheers,
Robin

Phil
Have we met at KH?
Name sounds familiar, if so you had an Elise, 340R, and a Ferrari 355 as well, dressed in a lightweight sandstone suit, and lent me your mobile when I needed to call the AA.

Re: HONDA
Robin,
The car has had an electrical/misfire problem (you've worked out already I'm not technical!!) for next to ever. We replaced every sensor every coil, cable etc etc, then put it on an emerald and told it to ignore the limp home mode. went much better but still struggling at the top end and lap times dropped from 58.5 to 60+ at Knockhill. We then found a weak fuel pump, and then found a rusting fuel tank and replaced the whole lot (I do love the wee car!!!) and it sounded crisp as could be. I wanted it rolling roaded to make sure it was good before a track say at Cadwell. Ist run it was perfect and showed 179 (it didn't have the upgrade) 2nd run it was at 6500 and a rod poped through the block! Still runs on 3, no leaks from anywhere apart from the obvious, but lacked torque!!! Not sure what I'll do. Couple of mates have scholar 220's which is one obvious option but i'm very tempted just to get the Honda.
Tut,
I absolutely deny the lightweight sandstone suit but admit to everything else!!! Also see you regularly at Knockhill, often in my S1 which never lets me down. Are you not running a Honda now??

I still have the original blue N1TUT Phil, which is an N/A Honda, but has been off the road for two years for a re-build, so she was followed by yellow N3 TUT with a S/C Honda conversion.

Re: HONDA
I recognise that name and car collection too! Hi Phil (and Karen)
We first met up at the Barcelona GP about 8 years ago through a common friend and again at Alan's stag do (Perthshire offroad), wedding at Cameron House and son's confirmation/blessing. Last time I think was a quick hello at KH last summer before you left early to go karting. Never clicked with me before that you weren't on here.
Sorry to hear about the 340R. Can't help with tech advice I am afraid, but you are at the right place for lots of help and friendly advice. Hope you get it sorted soon.
