Painting Calipers

Going to give my calipers a coat of yellow paint at the weekend.... :D Hopefully tidy them up a bit.

Quick question - do I have to use primar first? Or is it okay to give them a quick clean and then go straight to a base coat of metal paint?

I just gave mine a quick clean with a wire brush then some brake cleaner, I then used the lid of the spray can and sat it over the piston I was spraying towards that way no paint got on the seals.

Cool :thumbsup

I'm just going to leave mine on the car and tape everything up that I shouldn't paint over!

The paint I bought is for metal temp and withstands high temps but doesn't say to how high - hopefully it should be okay.

I used brake calliper paint from halfrauds and as I had everything (I really do mean everything) it wasn't a problem, although I still have a little air in the system :(

:thumbsup

I also used caliper paint from Halfrauds for the black and then silver Hammerite for the Lotus lettering. I took the pads out so that I didn't paint them onto the calipers and taped up a few wee bits. Also painted the inside of the disks where it had gone a bit rusty.

Hammerite yellow is fine with temperature and close enough to 'Lotus' yellow. Did mine in a fit of boredom when ther car was broken.

'Tis like the FRB though- they will likely need re-done in the future; also makes them a bummer to keep clean.

Should look 8) with the black car, but some people will snigger...

Nice one thanks Dezzy.

Its actually JAPLAC metal paint as Hammerite were out of yellow.

I'm getting a brake upgrade from Santa anyway so it'll be short term
