Powdercoating Undertray???
Powdercoating Undertray???
Starting to notice the rear diffuser getting really rusty and starting to make the car look sh!t
so will prob get it blasted then powdercoated also think the undertray could do with a going over too, has to be black. Anyone done this ? does it look ok ? Does anyone have pictures of it done?

My rear end is black. Looks good!

Re: Powdercoating Undertray???
Useless piece of trivia......your car came from the factory with black wheels, hence the black rear diffuserPaolo wrote:My rear end is black. Looks good!

The diffuser and mesh are two seperate parts mate.cloggie wrote:Sauchiehall st?? Not a very good day to have the elise out ! Had a few scary moments![]()

The diffuser is quite easilly replaced but not the cheapest part.. You would be better just getting it refurb'd.
As for the mesh, you can refurd the mesh you have just now (hammerite it is the best idea) or if you want round exits you would need to go along the lines or a 3 peice diffuser and plastic mesh - which is about £400 all in IIRC.

Re: Powdercoating Undertray???
Rubbish - you can buy the round grills separately from Lotus - and they're nothing like £400, they occaisonally come up on Ebay.X7LDA wrote: As for the mesh, you can refurd the mesh you have just now (hammerite it is the best idea) or if you want round exits you would need to go along the lines or a 3 peice diffuser and plastic mesh - which is about £400 all in IIRC.

My rear end is black as well..... because its manky and not been cleaned properly for months...Paolo wrote:My rear end is black. Looks good!
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....
Re: Powdercoating Undertray???
I had the 135R diffuser powdercoated at the same place as JJ.
I've painted the diffuser on my current S2 though.... Hammerite Smooth... looks just as good at the moment. (plus I just sprayed the rubber tube rather than replace it with black this time, and gave the rear grills a going over £8 all-in).

The metal grills only have the holes in one shape - universal to the oval or round exhaust
If you want specific round only then you need to buy the plastic grills from Lotus (which yes you can buy seperately - and yes do come up on ebay) but only fit the 3 peice diffuser..... Which he doesn't have... So would be pointless wouldn't it...
And the whole kit, together, diffuser and grills is actually over £400 from Lotus.. Just checked
Re: Powdercoating Undertray???
Hammerite (2 tins of spray), bit of wet and dry paper, couple of hours. Looks like it came out the factory
Re: Powdercoating Undertray???
I got mine done and they did the black mesh bits as well. Looks much better than rusty dirty version before
£30 all in.
