What would it take to fit some cheap harnesses to my S2 ST...have been inspired by the support provided by those in Ali's exige..easily doubles the driving pleasure.

Pretty sure there was a bar on fleabay but think it was S1.
IIRC it is a simple (!) case of installing the bar behind the seats and then the harnesses althought you might have to take out the inertia reels. This might be a bit of a pain in the arsh if you have ever been in a harness only car in a suit.
Do the speakers in the S2 get in the way ?

When you install a harness bar, you have to remove the inertia belts or you have no guarantee that the seat bolt will be strong enough. The bolt will protrude more from the seat so there's more leverage and it might be possible for it to come out.
Also, you have to cut interior panels IIRC.
Since you don't do trackdays, I wouldn't bother. Get yourself a CG Lock instead.

They maybe are but I've seen posts on seloc where people have said they've asked Lotus and they say not to. I echo Simon's comments.
If I was to go back to use my car on a more regualar basis I would really need to think twice about swapping back to a 3 point system.
For sure Mandy's S1 won't be getting harnesses fitted.
But yeah, you do need a harness bar (one suitable for bolt in harness) which means that you need to cut into the back panel.
As Simon said, you shouldn't fit both on an S1/S2 (perhaps they have changed it) as their is a theortical (sp) risk that due to the lever arm effect of moving the load point further away that it may fail. Personally I think the risk is negligble, as these thing have to have a safety factor designed in. (My weight going forward in a crash compared to Shug) That aside - I think the harness would rattle like hell when not in use.

I'm sure they (ie MMC) will only fit harnesses and 3-point belts where the motorsport seat runners are already in place.
These runners have separate mountings for belts nad harnesses (I think)

the cg lock has reminded me that Ive got lying around somewhere a little cheapo plastic gadget for taking the tension OUT of the seatbelt for around the neck area so it doesnt rub...of course is was my sisters/mums etc at one point...
that will work EXACTLY the same as the £45 (pffff!) cg lock....really nice design though, sexy etc.
it will need to be used in the same position as the cg. again, it will not compromise safety and will allow total free upper body movement...i'd bet halfrauds have it in stock for a fiver....
