Weird solvents required

One of my tasks at this weekend's Spanners is to replace the corroded and aged outer side window scraper seals.

Robin kindly sent me through the relevant workshop manual page, which requires me to use:
  • - "Betaclean 3900" to clean the door surface once the old seal is removed > identified this is a branded Isopropanol (Isopropyl) cleaner, eventually tracked down in Maplin Falkirk (as also used for cleaning electronic components).

    - "PP Primer" to prime the door and seal surfaces before re-bonding > identified this as a shorthand for Polypropylene Primer, but struggling to find any brands I can ask for (the Motor Factors I called had NO idea what I was talking about)

    - "Silastic" to bond and seal the new scraper rubbers > identified as Sikaflex or - wait for it - Tiger Seal!, available from Brown Bros in Stenhouse Edinburgh.
So...it's the Polypropylene Primer I am stuck with, and need to get it locally in Central Scotland if poss in order to have it in time for the weekend.

Answers on a postcard please!

cheers

Campbell

Is the first result that comes up - a Japanese product...

Would appear that it's a paint industry thing as opposed to straight motor factors. Maybe try a callround of bodyshops and see if they can advise anything (Steve Walker?)

99% of IT Depts have IsoClene in stock and should do the job.

Lawrence,

I'll plump for Tiger Seal then! Brilliant, thanks.

As for PP Primer, guess I'll wing it without it. Will get some Isopropyl cleaner today hopefully.

See you tomorrow.
