I'd be interested to hear if anyone has experienced any issues caused by the fitting of a sports cat. I seem to recall stories of them not being accepted by the system and causing the engine MIL to activate. I have a Hurricane and Larini fitted, but otherwise standard spec 135R.

I 'think' Robin may have put a janspeed sports cat on Egor... I'm sure Ali was doing it when I went for a service one time. I'm afraid my 135R just had pretty much the same as you (induction kit & Larini Club Sport) but I kept the standard cat.

I've been running a sports cat for a good number of years now and not had any issues with MIL lights coming on due to it.

I've been running a sports cat for nearly 6 months. My MIL light randomly came on after 1000 miles. ALI had a look, it was the cat. He reset it and it was fine for 200ish miles then the MIL came on again so it must be confusing the lambda sensor somewhat. Perhaps it is not convinced it's not a cat bypass pipe. There are no other symptoms apart from the light being on. Car runs fine. It's booked in with ALI soon to see if he can find a permanent fix.

Get one. Noise tastic.

Thanks all - I think that's all the encouragement I need.

It should work fine; my car is making about 160-ish BHP on standard ECU with standard back box, sports cat, piper flexi downpipe and some big valves. No MIL issues. The ECU needs to see the cat working (it does this by comparing the pre- and post-cat lambda readings ... wikipedia has the full explanation for the interested IIRC) - so provided both O2 sensors are functioning and you do fit a cat and not a bypass pipe, you'll be fine. Don't be tempted to fit a MIL eliminator as this will just mask a genuine problem and in all probability the car will fail emissions test.
