Exige Battery

Post by anthonyyule » Sat Dec 13, 2008 7:56 am

Hiya,

Well after months of none use - and only the occasional fire up/ battery charge - my battery has finally given up the ghost.
Can anyone reccomend a good but cheap battery that would work for the Exige?

Cheers, T.

I recently changed the battery on my elise. Type i believe you need is a type 063, think they are the same across the board. Around £40 from a local factor. Kiwk monkeys wanted 64. cheers Ed

Maybe it just needs charged up? If you want to borrow my charger, let me know. There's an LED on the charger, if it goes off when the battery is charged, then your battery is ok. Try that before you fork out for a battery. The battery in my car is knackered (like that when i bought the car). Planning to get a new one soon - probably wait until next year now.

Cheers Peter,

My battery charger sounds similar to yours - the LED comes on when fully charged. the problem is that the charger always says "fully charged" now - well after a few minutes. I think wither the charger or the battery are fooked - but im sure that its down to months of abuse - full charge - discharge - full charge - discharge, etc. cant be good for it.

see you soon, T

The LED on my charger is always ON indicating that it's still trying to charge the battery. Should go off when the battery is fully charged. Anyway, same idea. Guess that's a good indication your battery is knackered! Group buy on Exige/Elise batteries anyone??

Cheers Craig, that would be fab. Ill get in touch over the holidays if thats ok?
Can you "fix" a battery if it has a crappy cell? - or are these things pretty much plug and play nowadays?

Changing the battery dosent look very difficult at all - but it does look really really fiddly trying to get in about the battery to get everything loosened off. Id so rather not have to do it!!

Hey Peter

Yeah, mine has a "charging" light, which goes out and is replaced with a "fully charged" light. but after about 2 mins the "fully charged" light always comes on, and when i try to crank the engine - nothing, just a click, click, click. grrrrrr. lights still work, and everything else - and the car starts on the button with a jump start - so I just dont know what to think!!!!

Don't know about your battery Tony, but mines is a sealed battery so theres nothing that can be done. Needs replaced. Just had a look on the internet, but going to get it out of the car to get the part no/spec off it so i can get the right one.

First time my battery went flat - i couldn't even unlock the car. Had to remove the passenger side front panel with an allen key to get to the battery terminals there.

I've had the 'click click click' one as well, guess battery wasn't so flat then - in that i could get into the car, and at least get some electrics.
