Low Coolant

Just putting a bag in my boot this morning and I noticed that the coolant level was a couple of cm under the low mark. Usually it sits around low when cold (I believe thats how they all settle) and its wet around the seam where the header tank is joined together and a dry line down from the cap.
The car is running fine and even sticks at the normal temperature, perhaps fluctuates a degree up or down a bit quicker but nothing crazy.
Do I just need a new cap?

Most likely a new cap is all that is required. Next step is HGF, so let's hope it's the cap

new cap ordered should get it this afternoon. Going round to get the coolant system pressure tested. No signs of leaking gasket around the heading I can see, unless its going into the oil. I should really go down and check shouldnt' I.

Take the oil filler cap of and see if there is any 'gunk' or mayonaise looking stuff in there...
Hopefully not....

Just back from doing that, no gunk though it looks a little dry :S No sign of oil in the header tank either. Dip stick looks fine too.

Don't panic - the caps fail regularly and it probably is just a cap ...
