Any experienece with fitting HID kits?

Post by jamie » Fri Jan 30, 2009 8:24 am

I got so fed up of the crappy lights last weekend that I have purchased a set of HID lights for the dipped beam.
I am going to attempt to fit them this weekend, any peeps got any recommendations on making the job easier - eg like where to secure the ballasts?
Had a read through the instructions and had a look on the online guides all seems relatively straight forward. Hope I don't live to regret saying that...

Jamie,

You'll appreciate the difference.

the job is pretty straightforward.
Wheel off
wheelarch liner out of the way
Headlight lense cover off
dipped beam assey. out
change bulb
open up the gromet a bit & feed HID wires through & connect up.
put back dipped beam assey. in place.
mount balast on the side of the crash structure.
put everything back together.
Check fuse is correct rating & change if necessary. (15amp required for YvoTuk's kits & 10amp installed as std.)
& then off to your nearest MOT test station to get your headlight alignment set.

Piece of piss don't worry about it. Ive done about 4 or 5 different cars and none have posed as a problem. Just need to get access to the lights and find a suitable place to secure the balast pack! Rest is easy! :thumbsup

Jamie,

If you're struggling, Ali @ SLS did mine a couple of years ago - nice neat job. Lights also aligned against garage wall !

Soooo much better :thumbsup

Cheap kit off ebay, a dodgy screw meant it took a while, but other than that, not too bad and vast improvement!
