toyo t1r front / a048 back

Post by vxc » Wed Feb 18, 2009 7:28 pm

is this a bad idea?

they found a nail in one of my front tyres and i just dont have the funds just now to get a048's or r888

They are due replacement so i might as well get 2 done at same time..

Is this wise>?

I've not done it myself, but from what I've heard mixing A048's or R888's with anything else can make the handling "interesting"
See http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... hp?t=16777 for one example

I would go for the R888's.
I wouldn't mix the t1r's.

Well, I looked around and found some good prices then it was pointed out to me, correctly, that Ronnie at Wheelsaround looks after us at Knockhill (which makes life easier for a lot of SE'rs) and that we should try to support him where possible......as such I went to wheelsaround.

Not zero grip but a huge imbalance between front and rear. Bad idea.

I`m pretty sure we have a pair of part-worn fronts, I have asked the motorsport facility manager (philthy) to have a look tonight when he gets home. I`ll let you know.

the t1rs will have f*** all grip, the 48s when warm will have loads.

You will have the worst handling, understeery car ever, until the snow comes, at which point things may change somewhat :damnfunny

I used to run slicks on the front of my 306 Rallye and 888's on the back for track days
