How hard a job is this then? The hinge pin on my engine cover has sheared and I believe that access is through rear clam removal

Except that it will be really hard because every fastener will probably be seized.
You will need two people.
My pin is also broken - I have simply ignored it
Good luck!

I like the leaving it option. When the second pin snaps which it invariably will, I'll consider looking at it. If it ain't completely broke...don't fix it.

you dont need to take the clam off to fix the pin check and see if the pin which is a bolt ,there are 2 of them has not just come undone .to check undo the bolts the fix the rear of the clam this lets you lift it up and fit a new bolt hope this helps you

I took the back window out at the weekend and looked down the crack - the bolt looks like its backed out of the hinge. I reckon if I unbolt the clam along that edge I can probably pull it up far enough to get onto the bolt. Does it just screw into a captive nut?
Cheers
