Dash Failure (rev counter and odometer)

Post by Deany1986 » Tue Mar 03, 2009 1:17 pm

Hi,

earlier on today when turning the car off noticed that the lights for illuminating the rev counter and speedo stayed on. On returning to the car and starting it my rev counter or odometer is not working and the shift light is staying on a continuous red. All other functions such as hand brake light, indicators and so on appear to be working.

Phoned up the dealer I bought the car off and I am awaiting a call back as service guy out at moment and other guy off sick. Any one on here got any ideas of what i could check or do?

reckon i may need a new dash though just concerned that my battery is going to run out due to the light staying on. Will wait for a call back from the dealer or some replies on here then guess i may need to disconnect the battery.

Kevin.

If it under 2 years old can any dealer not repair it?
I assume it's under 2 years old?

The cars an 06, got a warranty with the car so will be covered for dash i guess. Garage I got it from is in Swindon and edinburgh is my next closest lotus dealership so easier to try a few checks first. Spoke to the technitian from the garage and he said to try disconnecting battery first and if that doesnt work disconnect the cable from the back of the dash for a couple mins. If neither of these work thinks most likely that they will have to order me a new dash. Said it is unusual for them to go especially since its an 06.

Got the battery disconnected just now, fingers crossed i connect it back up and all is well. Dont have much hope of that though as cant see it being that simple :(
