Private plate ?

can someone give me a brief run through how I retain my private plate is it straight forward ? how long does it take ? how long can I retain it for ? cheers

v778 retention certificate in the post to dvla , pay the fee , recieve new plate ?

Any idea on timescale ?

Yep they quote fairly long turnarounds but will often beat them.

The Edin DVLA office is below us at work, handy :thumbsup and Lisa's plate was whipped off and new V5, MOT, retention certificate and auth for new plate all turned round within what felt like about 10 calendar days.

Note - it's worth getting the plate retained pronto if selling, you have to surrender your V5 and can't legally transfer ownership until that comes back which in theory can be 3-4 weeks at busy times.

I had my number retained and my new number with new V5 within a week recently :thumbsup

Anyone know what I need to send off , I have completed the v317 , a cheque and enclosed my Reg Certificate. That it ?

I tried to contact DVLA , spent around 10 mins talking to robot like voices before being bluntly told "we can help,bye" :chainsaw
