Cracked Tyre

Post by DavieK » Tue Mar 10, 2009 3:41 pm

Well I can't say I've seen this before and with the state of the photo I doubt you'll see it either  but ...... whilst I had the wheel off for doing the filler surround I noticed a crack in the tyre that ran all the way around. It's on the inside edge of the blocks on the outside of the tyre.

OK to run ? or (and I'm dreading this) need replaced ?

again sorry the picture is so bad !

In fact now I've posted it it's so bad it's giving me a sore head ....... I'll try and get a better one.

My Polo tyre had those and it went to the wear markers fine, caused by stress in the tyre. If the crack does not go down to the canvass of the tyre would think it would be ok . Chunks coming off or the carcass getting loose bin them , you would feel they were not right though. . Any doubts get someone who knows what they are looking at to give them a once over .
