I would suggest that if you need a "picture heavy" guide to swapping out brake pads then perhaps you shouldn't be doing such a safety critical job on the car on your own.

It's a shame you couldn't have made Dom's Spanners & Sponges last weekend as you could have done it with some guidance and your work checked over before bolting the wheels back on.

The old tool is a waste of money though the newer one looks better. You dont really need it as you can wind the piston back with a pair of long nose plyers , being careful not to slip and tear the boot .

I may be doing mine at the weekend if I don't go to Edinburgh on Saturday .

Have you looked in the Seloc tech wicki? MAc words are very wise . :)

This link has a good number of pics: http://www.sandsmuseum.com/cars/elise/e ... index.html. The SELOC link doesn't appear to be working anymore, that was another useful source for me.

I did my brakes for the first time last year, and if I can do it, anyone can! Good luck :)

cheers!

i think i will give it a try and if i get stuck i will get some one in the know round ...

If i dont try this myself i will be reluctant to try anything on my car myself and just end up paying loads out for simple jobs!

No probs, been looking at the classifieds for Exige S's , just mega . Another car to ad to the list of wants.

B.t.w. Evidently this is the Mintex bedding in procedure that they recommend :

"M1144 is simple to bed-in. 4-6 stops from 30-0 mph. using a firm pedal pressure 4-6 stops from 70-30 mph. again using firm pedal pressure. Then allow to cool to ambient. The pads should be bedded after the above sequence. If the pad does not feel as expected then repeat the sequence above."

So much conflicting info and ideas.
