Hi Mags,

Is it the front or rear that's bottoming out?

Or if you don't know can you make it bottom out on track?

Cheers

1st thing would be to check the dampers that they aren't shot or the springs are weak or broken.

I can scuff the arches on my car when driving on the 48's on track and I got myself a stiffer Anti Roll Bar to compensate.

But I would check the above first.

Cheers

I didn't know that the LSS on the S1 had adjustable platforms.

Could be that it's just to low for the spring weight and that a little lift front & rear could solve it.

The other thing could be (and this is probably more likely) is that the drop links have gone making the antiroll bar too soft. They are only little ball joints after all.

Are you sure it's bottoming out. Chech underneath and under the arches to make sure. My S1 used to scrape the front mudflaps thru duffus... might just be that???

Mags been posting about the ride height of the 160 yes the front has been bottoming out a few times scraping the new front clam and mud flaps frequently yesterday having to slow waiting on the inevitable bang!Round KH its just the mudflaps and the left rear that scrapes which is fair-enough but the road runs are a fcuking nightmare
Lawrence pointed out what to do which in theory is correct. I have had the wheel off and took pressure off the spring soaked everything in wd
undid the small Alan screw cleaned threads but still cant get the "basket" to move the main adjustment screw that alters the height appears to be still seized and refuses to move you ll appreciate i don't want to to in gun hoe and fcuking break something............................. any ideas how to overcome this would be appreciated ...crab-bit me no wonder :rage :rage :rage through TG  :tired

Katie sleeps through TG :-) TBH wasn't that good an episode. My favourite moments were the labradoodle 'top gear dog' and the ludicrous JC driving the stupidly named Koenigsegg - who else had their head in hands when Mr Stig crashed it?

Anyway Neil, do you have the C-spanner thing that fits the platform adjuster?

With the C-spanner you can get the correct amount of torque on the adjuster and it should then move. Of course the correct solution is to replace the suspension - the dampers are probably shagged by now anyway!

Cheers,
Robin

I've had the Leda's adjustable platforms seize on me before. Couldn't shift them (even by taking the fcukers off the car, whacking them in a vice and going postal on them with a C spanner and suitable 'force multiplier' - ie. scaff pole)

Sent them back to Leda and they managed to get em off without damaging threads and they even had a nice layer of copaslip on them.

Not sure what your options would be with the LSS though - as Robin says, even though the car has been mollycoddled all it's life, I can't imagine the seals will have much life left in them....

Maybe worth a wee call to Stu about the protechs?
