I did a quick search and dont think I need to bother with any of the complex problems there might be sometimes I think I have a simple problem.

If I let the car stand a couple of days the battery is flat (you get clicky sounds and lights flashing on etc if you turn the key to start it) If I charge it up from the mains again all is well as long as I keep using it.

Am I right in thinking, engine running - multimeter aross the terminals should be 15 volts DC, and engine off should be about 12v? And if this is the case the alternator is working and the battery must therefore be gubbed.

or

Is the alternator gubbed and the battery ok?

I have a multimeter.

Also is Halfrauds ok for a new battery or do I need something special for my S2?

I'd say your battery is gubbed! Mine lasts about 6 days without use then goes flat. Keep meaning to get a new one.

Halfords batteries are OK if a bit expensive, these are the ones you want

Battery should be about 12.4 volts and if the engine running should be about 14.8 volts. (think thats about correct )

You'll be able to pick up a battery from a local motor factor or garage which should be at least as good if not better than a Halfords one, and should be cheaper too. I got one in Costco.

Thanks, I just got one from Halfrauds to save time. Which leads me to a story about the purchace just now.

So I went into the store after reserving the battery online, as usual no staff to be seen at the counters, just a lone customer looking like he was already being served (wasnt looking about for help.) I went off to find a staff member. Got one, went back with him to the parts counter.

Got battery, gave card to pay, staff guy asks me to enter pin. I say to the man beside my "excuse me." He relies "F**k off!" I say "what!?" He repeats "F**k off and stretch over me!"

Now this was unnexpected since I didnt know he was waiting and hadnt said a word to me already. You'd have though he might have said he was first. Anyhow I said it was rude to speak to people like that and that I wasnt aware he was waiting and that he could have been already being served etc. Short exchange of words involving him telling me I was better than him then etc etc etc.

Whats the world coming to when you cant go shopping in a nice retail park, without someone with grey hair (around 55 years) telling you where to go. Blimey, if I'd been a bampot I might have lamped him one. He wasnt to know I wouldnt do that!

Sounds like his self diagnosis was correct , You are better than him .

Sounds like what is known as a "buzz box" in the S&M world.... But they are a high voltage, low current design for the "stimulation" of "things"
