How many miles do you get to a tank??

Hey guys!
Now finished off my third tank of petrol in the new motor.
Been getting around 160-200 miles to a full tank of V-Power in my Exige S (220bhp). Is this about right? Seems really thirsty!?
Not much better than my M3!
What are all you chaps getting-ish?

Knowing how you drive thats pretty good. Did you keep the M3 or trade it in?
Kev.

Still only a 40l tank though, innit? Or have they increased tank sizes since the later S1s? Betcha it's still cheaper to fill than the M3
Tank size was originally designed for a car that could easily swing 40mpg.
FWIW, my tuned VVC seems to get about 250-270 miles out of a tank irrespective of how I drive (barring track)

It's only meant to be a 43l tank on the S2

E46 M3 tank size is abotu 62litres IIRC whereas the Exige tank is ~40l.
Not really comparing apples with apples is it!?
So if you were getting 20mpg out of the M3, and you're getting the same miles on a tank, you're getting 30mpg out of the Exige. Make you feel better?

I have 2006 exige s
Will get 250miles of non-stop motorway driving at best, this will drop to about 180miles for normal every day stop start kind of stuff. (thats with cheap petrol)
Yours does sound thirsty........

Yup, £50 worth of V-Power...
..and that was for 65 track miles in the morning plus maybe 20 or so on the road...
That's less than 8 mpg.
I think the tank must be bigger (or the filler neck - I did brim it).
Assuming 42L ish fillups here are some estimates (bear in mind mine will be slightly worse as it's a 240):
Motorway 300 miles (32.5 mpg)
Normal driving/commute 250 miles (27mpg)
'Spirited' backroads (i.e. not stuck behind tut)

185miles (20 mpg)
Autobahn 100 miles..or 45 mins (10mpg)
Track - anything from low teens in the wet to less 8 as exhibited at KH. I dread to think what Spa would be like!
My old S2 111S was hard pushed to dip below 20mpg - even on track!

Fuel consumption must be quite bad with the supercharger, I can get 100+ track miles from a tank in mine.

I also get about 250 miles or just under out of a tank with normal driving - mix of motorway/town/country roads. Think it's about 200 miles on a 'spirited' blast on the country roads. That's a N/A S2 Exige.
When I had my Elise 111R, I once got about 320 miles out of a tank - purely motorway driving in 6th gear. Think the Elise was a bit lighter than the Exige too, so guess that explains why the Exige doesn't get as many miles out of a tank.

Craig, 160 to the tank was the same as my exige S. Even when it was tuned I still got the same, so nothing to worry about.
