TRD Air filter Assembly

Post by Clarkie » Mon Sep 14, 2009 9:17 pm

I was speaking to Lotus Sport and they suggested the TRD air filter assembly was a good upgrade.

Anyone any experience with this mod on a supercharged car?

Cheers Clark

Leave it alone is my advice, especially if the car is still in warranty.

Of course any car will be sensitive to restrictions in the air intake, but unless you know for a fact that your air filter is causing pressure drop into the intake of the s/c I would guess that it's a total waste of time ;-)

My car has it, think it makes the supercharger whine more prominant (I can't really hear the level 1 exhaust over it...). I don't know if it makes any performance difference but it is recommended by Lotus Sport for S/C cars.

Robin, it's still a standardish airbox, just bigger:

If Lotus Motorsport are recommending it, presumably they have some hard facts to back up the difference it makes over the part they remove ...

Dunno if that means more power or better response... :?
I know it's louder.

If it 'released' <clarkson>MORE POWER</clarkson> then they would say so. Response, pah!, who needs it :-)
