Hi,
I broke the rear hub carrier on my S1 (Alloy Verssion). I am struggling to get a 2nd hand replacement. Would anyone know a breaker I could try ? or does anyone have the old set from their upgrade. Its the near side ?
For the weekend at KH I took the carier to an engineering shop and he welded and also added a support plate accross the webs. This broke within half an hour. Don't think I will try again ?
Regards
Coko

Try here
Douglas Valley Breakers Ltd
Site 1 (Dismantling Yard)
Bradley Lane

Lancashire WN6 OXQ
Tel 01257472866 Parts (8 Lines)
Fax 01257426534

scotty@douglasvalley.co.uk
usually got a couple of Elises in. Looking at their sire they have 2 S1's at the moment. Worth a call but they charge half new price so probably be about £150.

It might be worth switching to the steel rear uprights - I think all the parts are interchangeable - so if Douglas Valley only have later model S1 then you can switch to those, though obviously you would need a pair. Assuming you have all the brackets for the rear uprights (the bits that hold the caliper and steering arm on), it might be possible to use a front alloy upright. I have several of those lying around here in various states of disrepair - you're welcome to have one, assuming you can verify that the part will actually work for you - I have never tried using a front upright on the rear, or converting a car that uses alloy uprights to steel uprights. In all cases you will want to replace the bearings in these, though, and reuse the flange from your existing upright.
Cheers,
Robin

Robin fronts and rears are different. The rears have an extra sticky out bit for the toe links.
