Lotus Supercharger Kit

Post by mikeyb13 » Tue Sep 29, 2009 5:08 pm

Looking at options for more power in the Exige. Its a standard 190 with a stage 2 exhaust and induction
Looking at the Lotus Kit which should take it to 220hp. Got a couple of questions

1 Would it be worth my while doing the rest of the exhaust system, thinking 4-2-1 and sport(possibly no)cat and which makes would fit my current exhaust?

2 Could it be remapped for more power?

3 How hard is it to fit?

Cheers Mikey

PS I know I should learn to drive better first, but im getting there :drive

Not the way I'd do it.

With lotus you get to say all lotus kit and a warranty, but it's only 220bhp.

Go katana and you get 250-260bhp and get a year warranty. You can then chargecool etc etc.
My dosh would go on a katana.

HTH

PS
new pads (pagid or carbotach) and grooved discs (PM Stu) may help too!

I got lost mid flow there!

1. Exhaust - 2bular would be my pick (VXC is selling one at the mo!) :thumbsup
Induction kit - may try TRD one but the rest seem to cause MIL issues.
4-2-1 and decat.....why bother?
None of this will free up many if any bhp.

2. lotus do a remap that brings the cam change down to 5500rpm....good reports but not the route I'd take....remap is included in katana!
Never heard of a remap that gives the 'ypta more bhp.

3.No idea....I like the warranty idea!

You could do the lotus route then get the bigger injectors then reflash then chargecool.........but you guessed it....I like the katana idea!

Just sold my NA Exige and before I did I gave power upgrades quite a bit of thought. Bottom line: if you have a NA Exige and you want a substantial hike in power, without doubt the most cost effective route long term is to sell your car and buy an Exige S, then possibly get a Gotham remap and bigger injectors to take it to 240ish for just £1k. The Katana kit looks really good, but like all aftermarket mods it will not be worth very much when the time comes to sell. The difference on the used market between the price of good NA Exiges and Exige Ss is not much more than the cost of an aftermarket SC conversion.

How quickly are you looking to do this?

There may be a another, closer option shortly.

Interesting. I suspect there would be plenty of people up here interested in an SC conversion if it was available closer to home, and especially from the Judemeister :) . Sinclairs or Hangar 111 are a hell of a long way, especially if you have any teething problems to be sorted out post conversion. Too late for me tho..... :(

Looking at the exact same thing myself just now, although i think doing the complete exhaust + remap to a N/A car is a good idea. The returns in power for the money spent just don't make sense, far better to bite the built and save for a supercharger conversion.

That's the route i'm going to go down, watch this space.
