Driven the car for a few days now and chips are already starting to appear.

I have been given links to Armourfend, invincashield or something but these seem to be for installers. Does anyone know where you can buy a kit ? or someon local to speak to ?

Invincashield Sell a film protection system that uses the same 3M film as Armourfend. They also sell an Exige and S2 Elise kit.

Looks like their website has had a hack though, unless they also sell breast enlargements...

If you find somewhere selling a kit, maybe a bunch of us S1'ers could club together and make up a template, then just buy a roll of the 3M stuff that is used...

I think these are the guys MMC use. Based in Perth. I talked to them about replacing a section of front clam protection once, they were pretty helpful although I did not need to get it done in the end. Not sure if they supply to general public though, but they certainly cut out the kits in Perth with a computer driven template gizmo

I can make you a template for the rear sill ones top and bottom and poss the air intake one too, I don't have any front ones Iet me know I'll dig them out, make templates nd pop them in the post to you Alan

I already have those ones fitted. Its the front clam I'm really looking for. Cheers anyway Hamish

You heard incorrectly....

For the record the defendall pricing is as follows:-

£675 is the price for a full S1 kit (fitted)

The price for the s1 lower clam only is £240 fitted

Pricing sounds about right. I called them about getting the VX done and the pricing was very similar (700 full, 300 lower for vx i reckon)

Would it be that difficult to build a template using some paper and a pencil...?

I suppose it would depend how well it bends and stretches etc as obviously parts of the car curve in all directions.

If it's not too expensive it could be trial fitted to a car and removed / template modified / try again...

However, getting the right shape is more difficult than you think and fitting it will take a bit of patience. Fitted my rear ones no prob with the water/fairy liquid technique but imagine a full clam will be more difficult.

I just want to buy the cut outs and do it myself but don't think anyone supplies that option.

I suppose that's because people like me would draw around them and make their own templates, making the 700 quid kit look stupidly expensive...

Could you ask him how much for a roll / how big a roll is as i'd imagine a lot would be wasted trying to build a template. Maybe the trick would be to do it in smaller bits. I suppose I'd really need to see a car with it applied and take it from there. I would imagine the bits at the back of the sill would be easy enough to template, just the larger bits would be a pain.

Do they also do the rest of the sill. Certainly with my car that's the worst part.

The front of my car is pretty rough at the moment, but when I (eventually) get the rear clam replaced (probably into next year mind) it makes sense to get the whole car painted. Think I'd be a bit weary of trailing and templating based on a freshly resprayed car especially if it is likely to be difficult, so might be worth trailing on my front now rather than after paint assuming the stuff can be hair-drier / heat gunned off...

Fitting is the hard bit

...tricky but doable. I fitted a kit (now defunct Invincashield) to my S2 Elise. Hard bits were the big front section which went around lights indicators and nose badge and the concave surfaces low down on the front.
A warm, dust free enviroment is a must.

Also fitted a bike kit to F-in-law's Blackbird..that was much harder. Small bits but tight, complex curves.
