MOT for elise in aberdeen??

Post by c5tto » Tue Jun 06, 2006 5:17 pm

Hi
Just got my elise back from its mot and was told they could not finish test because all underside panels need to be removed. i bought the car from a garage last year and know for a fact they never touched these panels when they motd it for selling me it. has anyone else had this problem and know of anywhere in aberdeen that dont require me to remove all underside panels as i dont really want to do this?
Cheers Bob.

They don't need to remove them for MOT, definitely go somewhere else.

Garbage. An MOT specifically forbids the removal of any part of the car in order to check another. A garage can refuse to test it but they can't fail it.

Try Autoquick on Langstracht. Or if you're struggling, Gareth used A W Autotech on The Spittle (but they weren't cheap if memory serves). If you've dodgy emissions, I know a country station that used to have a lot of road legal bike exhausts lying around specifically for MOT's. I'm sure they'd have a spare cat too...

the emissions are fine it passed them, i could take off the underside but dont see point. just checked and the fail sheet says the following.

The condition of the vehicle is such that, in the opinion of the examiner, a proper examination would involve a risk of injury to any person or damage the vehicle or to other property.

All underbody panels must be removed for inspection.

Take your fail slip and follow the appeals procedure. Muppets like this should have their licenses revoked.

I even used Pit Stop off George street.
MMC failed me on emissions, they passed me.
Go figure

G, your cat might have been cold when MMC got round to doing yours and it was proably nice and hot when you turned up at a drive-in place.

Can make all the difference - top tip if you're marginal on emissions is to go for a bloody good thrash beforehand and make sure the cat is toasty. They work better.

Agree, and that's why I think it passed.
The car had be broken down and unstarted for a week until the day it was MOT'd

Autoquick at Whitemyres Seconded....

I have heard something about the undertrays having to be taken off prior to test. Something new this year...a buletin or something. Can't remembner where tho....maybe try searching on Seloc.

Wouldn't bother posting on there just now tho....it's all a bit hormonal.
