Putting car up on axel stands

I'm going to be taking my car off the road for a little while and want to put it up on axel stands and get the wheels off. I've searched and found very helpful posts on where to place the axel stands but I can't find anything which tells me where to place the jack when placing the stands. I don't know what makes me think this but I assume you put either the front end or back end up first in which case I can't work put where the jack goes. I suppose the other option is to put the left or right side up first (in which case I put the jack at the central jacking point) but that doesn't seem as stable to me.

Thanks in advance for the help, sorry if I'm being a bit thick.

I would use the central jacking point and do it side by side. Car is balanced using this point and will be stable enough lifting the 2nd side if the 1st side is on axel stands at the front and rear points

Just make sure the jack is perpendicular to the car and free to roll (I always take a second to make sure the floor is clear and line up the castors on the jack).

How high do you want it and what is the axel stand minimum height? If in doubt about stability you could do it side by side in stages to get up to full height.

I do it this way 'cos it's easy (familiar) to position the jack. Front and rear would work just as well, from a stability pov the ‘angle’ of the car is less – just make sure wheels are chocked. I would lift front first with handbrake on/in gear/rear wheels chocked.

edited to add:
I'd crack all the wheel studs while the car is on the ground.

This is what I plan to do after I manage a bit of scrap wood "skip diving" at work.
