I think there's a thread about this on Seloc. I'm sure Sinclair's do a conversion but not sure if there's a kit as its pretty new. Think the first converted car by them was only on the road this week.

Re: duratec conversion?
Sinclaire do a conversion kit,
nearly available, I have seen the demonstrator at Spa, looked very well !
there was a thread on Seloc about it, not expensive eather

Re: duratec conversion?
Thanks, I have a pal who has an St170 engine, with only 6000 miles on it, just wondered if it was worth while, or just stick another K in it.
Anyone fancy some VERY nice K bits? full engine, needs built, but will be up to 220 BHP (top king K spec
)

Re: duratec conversion?
I think the ST170 engine is more zetec than it is duratec even though the put a duratec badge on it and I think they have steel blocks so it would be quite heavy.

Re: duratec conversion?
Sinc is the only DIY I can think of, and it's the 2.0, Steve Wiliams does the 2.3 but it's not DIY. The 2.3 is taller so needs a new boot lid etc... Robin drove the 2.3 Duratec a month or so ago and didn't seem too impressed?

Shame to not use all the juicey K bits you've got kicking about, it'd be a wicked beast when done

Re: duratec conversion?
Don't get me wrong - when we clocked Steve's 2.3 against Neil's car it was 2 seconds or so quicker from 30-70mph on the very same stretch of road, so plenty fast - it just doesn't feel mental when you're driving it, probably because of the PG1 sludge box and the fact that it's all over by 6,500 RPM.

Re: duratec conversion?
No doubt he had his own good reasons, but surprising that Yvo converted from his Honda engine to a Duratec.

Re: duratec conversion?
I think it was mainly an attempt to stick two fingers up at Scuffers TBH. That's pretty much how I've read the situation anyway.

Expensive two fingers, should have kept the Honda and stuck 'em up where the sun don't shine if he felt that strongly about it.
I thought it may be for the number of CV joint/driveshaft failures that he has had.

Re: duratec conversion?
It's a Dutch thing - if they could get diesels to work in the back of the Elise, Holland would be the place they would do it
