Fuel tank gone?

Post by Rich H » Tue Oct 20, 2009 10:56 am

Hey all,

The Elise has been neglected of late and I've now got a bit of a whiff of petrol now and then. I have also lost the 'phsss' when I open the fuel filler...

Has the fuel tank rotted through? Any other places to check first?

Any ideas where I might find a new tank?

I'd check the seal on the tank unit first.

It'll be fairly easy to see if its rotted through as it will only have happened at the bottom so just whip the undertray off and have a look through the shear panel.

I may be able to source you a tank if it is fooked.

When my S1 lost the hiss on cap removal and started smelling of fuel, it was the fuel return hose that was split/perished.

Not tackeled it yet, but I need to change the ARB bushes anyway so I'll check then.
