Righto 1st off, total disaster of a day as the exhaust (or turbo) just went on my Audi when i went home at lunch, so me being me thought, its ok, i will take my lotus back to work (roof on and still pissing of rain spec)

HOWEVER, I got half way back to work and it went on to limp mode!!! it ran great last time i was out in it, 2 weeks ago, now it has been sitting on my mates forecourt the last couple of days in the pissing rain, could this be the problem - if so what do i do???? im at work at the moment and the car is outside continuing to get wetter!!!!

Im now in a right mood and i need to now get 2 cars fixed up! (and to compound the issue i have to leave for edinburgh tomorrow at 4 by any car that i can get my hands on) hopefully i can use the lotus for this cos the audi wont be a quick - or cheap - repair!!!

Betcha it's a plugwell full of water and it's detected misfire.

Get the engine bay grilles covered first. Then take off the plug cover and see if the wells are drookit - it's then a case of sooking out or soaking up with kitchen towel, then firing some WD40 down there. Try to seal up the plug well cover better when sticking it back on (not familiar how is best on an S2 cover)

would it be ok to cover up all of the engine grilles for my trip to edinburgh, or would the engine heat up too much? surely in this weather it will be ok to do that?

TBH, it'll be fine when it's moving - just if you're leaving it sitting for a while in torrential rain, covering the vents isn't the worst move you could make.

i have covered it up to save getting MORE WET!

however im not fancying a trip to edinburgh in it with crappo weather, especially when i have a nice warm comfy audi for that sorta thing!!!
