Power feed to lighter socket?

Still waiting for Graeme to find out for me so thought I would ask here in the mean time.

I'm sure in my last Elise the power to the lighter socket was cut when the ignition was off and keys removed, on my new car it seems to be a constant feed. Annoying as I keep forgetting to unplug my speed camera detector.

Is this normal? Is there an easy way to change it?

Yes, you can add a relay into the circuit to cut the feed when the ignition is off; or you can buy a protector that sits inline and cuts the feed off when the battery voltage drops below ~12v, thus making sure you don't drain the battery flat.

Cheers,
Robin

Or wire it wrong and make it so you can't switch off the engine.... :thumbsup
