Drivers side wing mirror

Post by Stevo9 » Sat Oct 31, 2009 5:34 pm

Afternoon all,

After a slight altercation with a pheasant, I'm left needing a new drivers side wing mirror. Fortunately not the whole thing, just the black plastic casing that holds the glass. It seems to have popped out from the unit pretty cleanly, braking just one of the clips. Does anybody know where I can get a replacement? Don’t really want to have to buy the whole unit. It is a '99 S1 Elise.

Thanks in advance.

Stephen.

Oh, and anybody know any good pheasant recipes? :)

ps yep, you are talking to the expert. Pluck it, draw it, season with salt and pepper, smear with butter, streaky bacon over the breast, roast in a hot oven, 180C for 35 mins, take off bacon with 10 mins to go.

That's how this little bugger ended up.

Just checked Steve and I have four mirror bodies but only one with the plastic rim and mirror, which is cracked courtesy of Khan.

Sounds as if you still have the glass, so I can post the plastic rim down to you if that is all you need. No payment necessary.

Thanks tut, unfortunately I don’t have the mirror, it went with the trim into the hedge. I'm going to go back tomorrow to see if I can find it though. Maybe I can salvage the glass. Thanks for the offer and I'll let you know.

Thanks very much for the help.

Cheers

Let me re-check, but when I had a complete one fitted to N1 during its re-spray, I think that Alan got it from Dingbros for around £10.

Only partly Brian, but he certainly chewed the glass.

The saga continues....

I went to the scrappy today. No Rover 100 but he did have the mirror from a Rover 200. It looked perfect, but when I compared it to the passenger side, the top line of the section that holds the glass was a lot wider than the elise mirror - about 3/4's of an inch compared to about a 1/4. I didnt get it as I thought it best to have one exactly the same. I can get a 100 mirror of the 'bay for about £20 or an Elise one from a breakers down south for £50. Will the 100 mirror be the same dimensions as the passenger side?

Sorry to be a pain the arse but your help is really appreciated!

Cheers

Stephen
