Intermittent Horn

Post by Stumpy Nugget » Fri Nov 27, 2009 12:22 pm

Has anyone had this problem before? My Horn seems to work with the wheel turned at certain angles only, then with a slight turn of the wheel, nothing. I am guessing that it could be a broken wire or something behind the horn push. However, I thought I would ask if anyone had came across this before and how they had resolved this? MOT planned for December so I need to find a fix for this soon. Cheers...any tips appreciated.

Seriously?

You're asking on this forum about an "Intermittent Horn"?

How much Viagra spam do you want? :damnfunny

(okay, in all seriousness, it'll be a dirty contact behind the wheel, not a major issue - just pull the face off it and see if there's anything obvious. Most likely just dirt, or perhaps a flaky wire - both simple to fix)

Knew Shug would beat me to it.

However for me it was a serious question, well more so for Verian.

ps probably need to start keeping some of the Viagra now as opposed to selling it all on eBay.

Will take the cover off and have a look this afternoon, maybe hit it with some WD40 and see if things improve... as for the other type of horn cant say I suffer from intermittence... it seems more of a permenant problem..

OK.. I went out and took off the steering cover, leads looked ok, sprayed with WD40. Took the steering wheel off and looked at the connector at the back of the steering wheel. It appears that the spring loaded contact pin from the steering column has worn down on half of the contact pont. I rotated the pin 180 degrees so that it makes better contact to the contact on the steering wheel. Refited steering wheel and jobs a good'un. Seems to work on rotating the wheel, so hopefully a simple case of a bad contact at the back of the wheel.

Now about that Viagra.... :thumbsup
