Re: OBD II Reader
Hi Andy,
I have been through quite a few of the cheaper ones. Work a couple of times then pack in (at the worst times). It took me a few attempts to find a reliable one so your probably done the right thing by spending a bit more money on a good one.
You should be fine with that one, i have loads of software for them if you dont like what comes with it.
Cheers

Yes, Its inside the boot close to the Left Hand Rear longeron although mine is an alloy boot. Believe the fibre glass ones are in a different place.
I use them on other cars as well.

Re: OBD II Reader
Your right in a way,
Its the same plug for OBD1&2 and uses the same software etc (in most cases anyway).
The difference is with the ECU and the way it operates. Easiest way to tell the difference,
OBD-1 uses only 1 Lambda sensor, primary sensor before CAT.
OBD-2 uses 2 Lambda Sensors, 1 Primary sensor before the CAT which tells ecu how much oxygen is in the exhaust then another after the CAT. The sole purpose for the 2nd Lambda is ensure the CAT is working.
This is why you can have problems with a De Cat/Sports Cat with obd2 systems as the ECU picks up the CAT isnt doing its job properly.
Basically, Only on older cars will you get different plugs as there was an industry standard brought out to ensure any garage/person could access the ECU, hence the one plug for all makes.

Re: OBD II Reader / Update
Well reader arrived today, and can connect with my other car [Focus 03], and daughters Focus 2000 1.8
Focus 2000 Error code P0171 Fuel system too lean. I have been changing ISV so their may be an air leak, or its sticking "open"
Tried the reader on the S1 160 Sport, reader connects up ok, but cannot communicate so EFI Euro 1 non SVA cannot be accessed.
Alan,
Thanks for the offer Ill see how I get on with the C/D supplied.
