Rover Header Tank Cap

Post by Tom » Wed Jan 13, 2010 11:51 am

Apologies if this has been done before but did a search and couldn't find much.

Need a header tank cap. B&C want £19. Rimmerbros do them http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-PCD100160 which seems ok. On the edge of that page it shows an aftermarket version which looks identical but is half the price. I've used them before for exhaust rubbers and they're cheap/reliable.

So, is this (PCD100160) the right part, and is this the best place to get it from?

Elise parts do them for £4.64 if you're ordering anything (that's how I got mine)

Aftermarket wise, Is it worth the risk for 3 quid?

Not bothered about the few quid, I was just wondering if they were the same part. When I was buying wiper blades for the Golf from eurocarparts if you buy blades for a mk4 convertible they are £4 odd, but if you get them for a mk4 hatch they are £12 or something. Items have a different eurocarparts code but are exactly the same Bosch Super Plus blade. I figured that sometimes the same part sells for different amounts depending on what car they're for and how popular/unpopular that car is. From the photos the two caps look identical, I just wondered if they were the same (as it's a Rover parts supplier and the original is cheap anyway).

Anyway, I'm massively over-complicating a simple subject  . I think I'll just get the Eliseparts one as it looks the same as what's on my car :thumbsup .

I ordered one from Eliseparts last time I did an order, as the pic showed a genuine one, and the price seemed good. it was an aftermarket one that turned up, so I've got two aftermarket ones sitting on the shelf in Wallyford if you need one in a hurry?

Thanks for the offer but car is now tucked away for the next load of snow. Will try and get my hands on a genuine one.
