Hmmmm - currently sitting on charge, but given that the dash jumped into life, but there was no click of starter relay or even the attempt at a fuel pump hum, I'm concerned.... Yes, alarm bypassed for this test.

Other than a bad/corroded earth, the only thing that connects your Starter/Fuel Pump fault is the main relay. I would bypass and earth the main relay, this should allow you to try the Starter. If the starter turns then you know you have a problem with the ECU (or wiring to it).

As im sure you know the ECU energises the main relay when it recieves an ignition feed. So it should be fairly easy to to trace the wires back.

P.S Re Read this and I don't think i make any sense, pretty sure you will know what i mean. (Off to Uni)

It's Emeralded and a butchered (by me) VVC loom, so sadly a standard ECU won't help me much - appreciate the offer though.

Yup - just need to get off my arse and start checking I'm getting current along the path now. I f**king hate wiring. hate it with a passion....
