Janspeed Level 2 for S2 Elise K-Series

Post by whaleys » Mon Mar 22, 2010 4:27 pm

I have a quick question.

I am looking at the aforementioned exhaust. It does however say "approved for track use only". Does anyone else have this exhuast and does that mean I would just be getting stopped all the time for noise?

I currently have the Lotus stainless steel sports exhuast, is it worth changing?

All comments welcome...

Cheers

I've had one on the car for the past 8 years and never had an issue - just be sensible in the presence of fuzz and back off to a trailing throttle.

Hi Whaleys,
The Lotus Level 2 is actually the Janspeed Roadsport system, it just comes in a Lotus box :) . It’s the quieter of the two systems they offer (Roadsport and Supersport) and I've had one on the car for three years. It’s a nice sounding exhaust - probably what the Rover S2's should have been fitted with from the factory as it is quiet enough to endure long spells on motorway (if you must) but still sounds the business when you are pushing the car hard. I think from memory, Mac has a Supersport which is a different proposition noise wise as he has already explained.

If you already have a Lotus Stainless Steel Sports exhaust then I suspect you would not notice any difference moving to the Roadsport -if you are through in the West any time soon then give me a shout if you want to compare it with the one on my car.

If you decide to buy either the Roadsport or Supersport then don't buy it directly from Lotus... they will be slightly cheaper but you will only get the one year Lotus spares warranty - if you buy it direct from Janspeed then you get a lifetime warranty :thumbsup

Thanks for the advice and the heads up on the fact I already have a Janspeed exhaust, albeit roadsport rather than supersport :D

My thoughts are to leave the level 2 and put the money to a sports cat. I know I could just decat, but don't want the bother of changing it back annually for MOT.

Cheers,
Graeme

I might be wrong but does the K not work a bit better with a little back pressure from a sports cat rather than a de-cat?

ready to learn otherwise though :D
