Another potential Stack issue / sidelight short?

Got in my s1 last night, turned on my headlights and the stack didn't illuminate.
Speedometer and rev counter work fine, warning lights all work fine, as does the LCD.
Also, my side switch seems to flicker and sometimes go on, sometimes not. Short on the side lights somewhere or is there a fuse for the stack illumination (can't see anything in the manual)

Looks like I have no side or tail light on the drivers side so it's probably related to that. Hopefully i'll get some decent weather to have a look through the week.

If it isn't just a fuse, if you post exactly which lights aren't working (test them all!), and whether it's pre or post-97 I would be happy to look at the wiring diagram and try work out where the failure probably is.
Note that the rear light looms tend to melt, short together and then blow the fuses, though that's mostly an issue with reverse and fog lights ....
Cheers,
Robin

Tried all lights and combinations everything works and behaves as expected except for:
Stack illumination lights - never on, not with head lights nor side lights
O/S side light (dipped, high beam and driving lamps all ok)
O/S tail light (2nd element for brake light works ok)
Side light switch bright illumination flickers when switched on - The regular dim illumination that is always on works fine, and the N/S side and tail lights are on regardless of illumination.
It's a 98 car.
I assume there isn't a single fuse for stack illumination and only O/S side+tail lights?
If I unplug the rear loom in the boot, should the front lights work (ie I can then decide that the problem is with the rear 1/4 of the loom or the front 3/4!)
Cheers,
Chris

Check the hidden fuse box under the wiper motor cover, mine did something similar and both rear light fuses had blown for no apparent reason. Repalced them adn it's been fine since.
The light switch llumination on mine is/was down to corrosion in the swtch.

Blown fuse, I think 16 or 17 (both show as Sidelamp LH on seloc fusebox page, though it'd assume one is RH).
There is definitely also a dodgy connection on the sidelamp push switch though as it still flickers, and i've also discovered I have no horn
