Folks,

Currently got an S2 Exige and I am thinking about doing some track days when the good weather comes returns - whenever that is!

Question I have got is that I "hear" that the rear toe links are considered a weak point by many and that an upgraded rear toe link kit is available which provides a 'double shear' mounting for the inboard ends of the rear toe-links and spreads the load distribution into the chassis - is this a sensible upgrade?

My second question - In terms of quality - is the best place to buy this from Lotus or do any other companies offer this kit?

My third and final question is - what is a ball park price for this kit?

It certainly is an essential on an S1 using R tyres, but I do not know what the standard unit is on an Exige S2.

I would have thought with the number of Track days that Brian did it would be OK as is.

Never had any problems on the 50 odd trackdays I have done in mine. Unless they look in pretty bad shape I wouldn't bother.

Strangely, the standard ones on N/A cars are fine but the "uprated" ones ones Cup cars etc. are useless and wear very quickly.

They should be fine. I would just leave them but check for play regularly, as you should do anyway if you track the car.

I've certainly had issues with the uprated ones, on NA and current '240' Exige (always with the inboard joint). I'd rather that than have one let go though...
Lots of different upgrade options at varying prices (and quality?), from Lotus, Elise-shop, Geary, Nitron, Komotec, etc.

For you I'd agree you don't have to upgrade right now to do a trackday, just check before every session. Something to look to in the future though as your speed and loadings increase.

The S2 Exige comes with R rated tyres as standard so would've thought that the std ones would be up to the job. Had mine replaced under warranty as was told they are prone to going after 12,000 miles.

I have an awful squeek behind my rear pax wheel - been told it's probably the toe link
