Removing Seized Bleed Nipple (AP Caliper)

Post by Turtlepower » Thu May 27, 2010 11:12 am

Guys

I have a seized bleed nipple on my front drivers brake caliper and I am looking to get it out. The brakes are feeling a bit spongy and the pads are not sweeping the disc as cleanly as the other side so I'm guessing its not working all that efficiently. When I changed the pads and discs over a year ago the brake fluid that came out was black but we never managed to remove the nipple back then (for fear of shearing it) so who knows what the fluid in the caliper is like!

Looking to take it somewhere (pref Glasgow) to get is sorted, I can remove caliper from the car myself if need be. I'd like to get it done properly because I don't fancy a £400 bill for a new caliper if it goes wrong!

If any one has any ideas that be a great help.

Cheers

Plenty of heat, some mole grips and a bit of patience should do the job. Just retap the threads and pop a new nipple in.
