Got my hands dirty!

Spotted some oil after the track session of TT whilst swapping my wheels over. Oil on the undertray/splitter. Will have a closer look with the wheel off again another evening. Me and AliC thought it might have came form a weepy shock I have but there was a fair bit of oil present. Will jack up the car and take some more pics for the technical advisors

(Alan....get that Honda finished and get over to Inverurie....LOL)

Hi Andy, congrats on taking your undertray off.
Lie down and take some pics of the gearbox/Engine and try and find the highest point (where the leak is coming from).
It does look quite bad. Looks like the work of Ali C
Alan
P.S I can pop round at the weekend ?

Will take some pics over the next few days. You concentrate on the Honda and I'll get some pics done. Busy with visitors and kids parties all weekend

Yeah, looks a bit worse than from that leaky shock I found.
Do you think it's engine or g/box oil? i.e. does it smell of oil or cat pee?
(btw I'm sure it was fine after I drove it)

Had a look today. What is this black plastic part? I think this may where the oil came from.....but I am stupid
I checked the engine oil and it seems to be at the same level as it was prior to the track day. I reckon it must be from the gearbox. Drove all the way from KH to Ft Bill and back to Inverurie and the cars runs smooth etc. I have kept the undertray off so I can get it cleaned up. Maybe take it to work on Friday for you to take a quick look. Perhaps I should check the gearbox oil level eh?
By the way...car was just washed hence the water. You can see that it is oily around the area about the plastic hoodger!

It's the gearbox breather - it's not unusual to have a little bit of oilly residue in that area.

Gearbox oil seal would be my bet - not a fun job...

Could the the gearbox breather cause a 'sneeze' during a track day

Not that much... Take a pic of the inner tripode joint and post that up.
Could also be the tripode boot split.

I 'm with Rich on this, nearside driveshaft seal in the gearbox. Not that bad a job but a PITA non the less.

Well thinking about it you will learn about:
Stuck bolts
Crap access to bolts
gearbox oil
pain
scary big hammers
more pain
bleeding
corrosion
and satisfaction of a job well done

Oily mess below the tripode by the look of that.
Look around the bay see if it's been flung off the joint or not.
