Flakey Alarm.

Just what I needed at 4am and I'm sure my neighbours are also very impressed.
Woke up to the sound of my '05 R111 joining in the dawn chorus.

Looked out the window and nobody playing around with it so got my keys and went down.
Alarm running for thirty seconds or so taking a couple of breaths and going again.
No lights flashing just the siren. tried to stop it with the keyfob but nothing even when right next to the drivers door.
I even tried the two buttons until light is constant / large button to reset it but nothing.
In the end I just disconected the battery and went back to bed.

Nothing obviously wrong the only time it's played up before was after a serious jet washing. Could water be getting into a sensor somewhere ? the body work was pooled with water this morning so it must have been raining at somepoint overnight.

At work just now, but has anyone seen this sort of thing before? any suggestions to try when I get home? (other than put it in the classified's of course ;-) )

Any insight greatfully recieved.

I can't help with the diagnosis but can confirm a similar problem, the alarm on my 06 111R was prone to playing up when it was very wet or following washing - it used to bleep when you set the alarm as if something was open and it wasn't setting - this would stop after about a minute but was often followed a few hours later by the alarm going off. I assume it was water getting into the contacts somewhere but never found out where. :?

Reconnected the battery last night and treated the neighbourhood to a repeat of the performance.
Managed to reset the key fob and turn it off.

The interior light might have been left on but a low battery wont trigger an alarm will it?

All very strange, for now its just locked without the alarm primed until I can gain some confindence in the alarm.

ho hum.

Low battery can cause all sorts of mayhem - but has to be low enough that it won't start.

I'll check what state the battery is in tonight. I actually have three that fit the car and swapped the original Bosch battery back in when I reconnected last night. The others are all high power calcium ones that get used occasionally generally after I've not driven it for too long....

My 16month old daughter loves playing in the car and I suspect she's flicked the cabin light to on and I've not noticed. But you're right I need to drive it more, especially in this weather. On the plus side I've got a stage two car seat that fits and she loves going out for a drive.
