Got some chavtastic 5/21W bulbs for rear lights and wee ba9s sidelight bulbs, all LED stylee, for my Elise S1.
None seems to work. Doubt ALL are duff, and did notice that the bayonet cap of the rear tail/stop light version appeared to get hot once installed and light circuit activated - despite no light being emitted by those light-emitting-diode critters.
Anyone got any clues before I send the lot back?
(had originally just planned to put in the sidelights for a whiter finish for the hell of it...now regretting the whole fecking enterprise!!)

Campbell, I can test them easily enough - I'll bring my multimeter when we come to do the brakes. Are you about tonight - would be just me I think as Katie up to eyeballs sorting her OU stuff prior to next week's big arrival ...

Reverse them in the socket as the only work with power in one direction ?

Cool. Tonight is good. Look forward to it...including some fun spotting all the other bits that are f*cked!!robin wrote:Campbell, I can test them easily enough - I'll bring my multimeter when we come to do the brakes. Sanjoy - good idea, however the stop & tail have offset pins to ensure they only go in the holder one way...allegedly

Reverse the wiring connectors on the holder? Jedi multimeter wizardry or possibly 'hotwiring' them will show the way.campbell wrote: Sanjoy - good idea, however the stop & tail have offset pins to ensure they only go in the holder one way...allegedlyDon't really want to try to force in "the wrong way". Let's see what the Jedi Master's meter has to say first...
btw Robin my Accusump has fixed itself after frolic. Not sure if it was heat etc. but it's now working perfectly as it should (I'm tuned into the sound of it firing on turn of the ignition, assume it works ok on low oil pressure), correct air pressures etc. No doubt it wail fail again but likely according to the law of doing so at the most inopportune moment!
I still need to diagnose my aircon issue, sounds like the compressor is not turning and no click from the relay. How hacked off (yet chuffed) will I be if it's only the fuse...

Re: LED tail light bulbs - no worky
Jedi multimeter wizardry proved the bulbs were essentially in working order, and the Elise wiring is all in the right direction (that's handy then).
Just seems to be poor compatibility of the bulb contacts to bulb-holder, really. May try a different brand of bulb, therefore.
Thanks Robin! [we also achieved most everything else that he was kind enough to offer to help with tonight, and even had time for coffee and some Stelvio reminiscing!]
