Sound deadening?

Post by Mike Scib » Sat Aug 28, 2010 3:28 pm

For my new van.

Been thinking about sound deadening my new van to some extent to quieten the boomeness down, I know you get Dynamat kits but they are not cheap. Have been thinking about using some house insulation or even underlay that goes under laminate floors but a little worried about the damp?

Anyone have any experience/thoughts?

:cheers

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).

Is there a bulkhead seperating the cab from the load area?
A full one will make it quieter than a car. (depending on the van!)

I usually put carpet on the floor in the back of my vans, stops stuff sliding about too much and quietens it down a bit too.
Green Subaru Impreza Turbo, a 'classic'.

Silver Jeep Cherokee 2.5 TD, on SORN spec...

Black Disco 3, black van man spec...

It's a VW Transporter Kombi van Mack, there will be a full bulkhead behind the passenger seats with a hinged door where the single seat lifts out to carry 8x4 sheets. Comes with a rubber floor which should stop the tools flying around, plus it will all be racked anyway :thumbsup

Looks good Phil, my fear is it holding moisture however :?
