Heater always blowing hot..

Post by chris_c201 » Wed Feb 02, 2011 11:52 pm

Evening all,

Newbie here, picked up my s2 exige from murray lotus tonight..

So far I'm loving it although the weather was so grim I didn't even get above 4k rpm's.

Anyway, done several searches here and on seloc and seloc wiki and can't see a definitive answer, regardless of where I set the temperature dial to and whether ac is on or not I was getting hot air.

I'll phone murray's tomorrow but was wondering if anyone could advise if it's a common fault and potential cause?

Cheers folks,
Chris

Hi,

Sounds like the air flap that diverts air over the heater matrix is stuck/broken/not being driven by the switch and so all air is hot air ...

Cheers,
Robin

Hi Chris - and hello to everyone on here that I've not seen for far too long. Babies and work are keeping me away from most car-related things!!

Anyhow, I had the same problem on my S2 111S last year. It is caused by the connection failing between the knob on the dash and the matrix - and it defaults to the hot. Mine was caused by a connector that's buried below and just to the offside of the matrix - it had rusted and failed. I cutit out and bodged it with some terminal block that - remarkably - is still working.

It's an absolute ar$e to get to, though. Take off both front inspection panels, grow very long skinny fingers and prepare to lose the skin off all your knuckles.
