Speedline Wheels

Post by mikeyb13 » Fri Apr 08, 2011 5:45 pm

Saw these on Ebay. Never seen them on an Elise before. I sent them an email and they have said they will supply them in a 15 and 16inch they did seem a bit vague however. Anyone know if these are the proper width etc

As long as they are genuine Speedline they will be fine.

The compomotives that were on Dans car when I bought it seemed unbreakable and looked awesome... I think they were heavy though (never bothered me). At least you know they are the right offsets etc.

Another option would be to go for a set of Rota's from either Elise Shop or Elise parts. Don't look dissimilar to the speedlines and again at least you will get the correct offset.

Eliseparts certainly pulled selling rota, was there quality issues as they didn't have the best rep on the jap stuff back in the day?

Eliseparts having been selling them for ages, even had some done with a special offset for the Elise trophy guys so that they conformed to the regs. I had them for my S1 and although not the lightest they are cheaper and certainly strong enough for the liz. For a while they didn't have any as they couldn't get stock. Also they have a slightly wider front than standard 6½" instead of 6", which fits a 195 tyre better.

Are those fronts 7" rather than 6"? It's the only other pic I've seen of these Compomotive fronts. The ones I have and that you see all the time don't have the dish and are 6".

Speedlines do look very nice. You'll undoubtedly uncover some pics and people with experience of them on SELOC. :thumbsup

They are 15"x6" fronts and 16"x8" rears. I also had another set which were 15"x6" fronts and 15"x8" rears which I preferrred actually, and you had better choice of tyres.

However, I've been looking into it recently for my new car and think I'll be going for two sets of Rotas. They are considerably lighter than the Compomotives (and other wheel options except silly money forged ones), and are somewhat cheaper too. Personally I don't like the looks of the Rotas but as mine is a race car the looks aren't so important. If it was for a non-competitive car then I would still choose Compomotives over Rotas, etc.

Speedlines look good but are just stupid money and a bit fragile in my experience.

Is that you could get discount or anyone? Hopefully getting an S1 next week so will be wanting some new wheels before the wife fritters the cash away from the Exige sale  Could maybe bring that gearbox down for you if you could order me a set of wheels.
