was :electrical problems S1 elise now :bulb holders

Really had to get my finger out since I suffered HGF on the clio so the elise got fired up this morning, everything seems fine except, it won't start on it's own (I will take the battery out tommorow night and charge it (going out for some lunch now as I am holiday) and when you switch things on some things go off (I put it in reverse and the dash switched off) also when I switch the blower on the temperature jumps (on full gets 999 degrees) my guessing is a combination of battery low and some rusty connector.

any other ideas ?

Earth straps, front or rear.

Use a long jump lead (or two short ones clipped together) and connect the battery -ve terminal to the engine block somewhere and see whether that makes things better; if it does, deffo earthing problem.

Cheers,
Robin

Pax side to gearbox, dangles around near where the coolant return rails exit the chassis.

Replaced some earth cables up front and the car started off another battery, original battery is on charge and off for an MOT tommorow night.

Assuming it still has the head from my car fitted it will have been an automatic tensioner.

Are you doing the belt? I have the tools if you need, welcome to do it at mine.

Update car push starts fine, the starter won't turn.

I thought I had fixed the problem by renewing the connectors at the battery end but no joy (it started fine yesterday.)
