Wouldn't be as powerful if air driven. Take it you ask as you have a compressor etc... in place?
Guy at work has just bought a hydraulic powered but remore button operated one. Cheap apparently (it'd have to be given who bought it), will see if I can find out more.
ETA: should have read the 'air' part of the title.

I could just hire one from HSS for the weekend and do a years wood but I have a compressor that Ferg's old man donated to my garage and thought it might be useful. Looking for something fast as have a lot of wood to do e.g.

Re: Compressed air log splitter conversion
I know it says air log splitter, but lower down it says hydraulic log splitter, which seems much more likely.
The log splitters I've seen were all hydraulic, which makes sense given the application. I'd be looking for a hydraulic splitter, I guess there are many ways to supply the hydraulic pressure.

Air & hydraulics are not my thing hence asking the SE collective, I actually thought they were the same
How can I bait this thread more to get Thinny to offer up the monster truck solution ?

No it's was a automated log splitter type thing. If DDtB was wielding an axe i would try, wherever possible, to be in another postcode.Sanjoy wrote:Who held the wood while the other one swung the axe ?Lazydonkey wrote:DDtB and i managed to use one last hogmanay and not kill ourselves. I use a cheap electric one , its great and does the job fine with out any fuss , its also compact and easy to store
good thing about it is its size after all its no good splitting a log thats too long and wont fit into the fire

Funny, the first thing I thought of was scrap heap challenge.
The one in the video must be from somewhere without lawyers, log splitter controls are supposed to be far enough away that you can't stick your hand in while holding the fire button. It should also be designed with a deadman ie stops if your not holding the lever in the on position. Makes the job a bit slower but increases the chances of getting to the end of the heap.
Hydraulic ones are normally run of tractor hydraulics, but I've seen manual versions, I've never seen an elecric one in use - maybe an option if your not going to do too many. Maybe what you need is a tractor, then go from there
