So,
MGTF160 VVC engine (with it's ECU and Loom available) into an S1.
Great idea or another 'Dave' idea??
Kinda hoping it's a straight swap for the engine, loom and ECU and could be a nice and hopefully reliable-ish way forward!
Dave.

Can not see why not, pretty sure that it is the same engine configuration, but wait for the experts who are inclined to hibernate over the weekend.

Have a look here:
http://forums.seloc.org/viewthread.php?tid=327062
For an S2 though.
SELOC may have its faults but a lot of good info is there.
I thought about this for a while and then chickened out. It would seem like a very reasonable way to get the extra poke.
Do it! (and keep a detailed step by step guide so I can copy it later

)

Hi Dave
I am sure it could be done, just have to splice the loom. Robin would be able advise on that.
Or, use the bottom end, refurb your head and drop it straight in, job done.
If you need a hand, you are more than welcome to do it here.

Physically doing it is easy enough, just the wiring side to contend with really? Robin?

Yes,
And that's pretty easy on an S1 if you get the entire engine loom (the bigger of the two ECU plugs connects to all the sensors on the engine), the ECU and the smaller connector with a reasonable run of cable on it from the donor car.
If you go down this route I can tell you what wires to cut from S1 and where to splice them on the MGTF loom.
Electrical reliability will be an issue though if the splicing is not done well - you have been warned!
Cheers,
Robin

I can hear Dave already... "I didn't think all this electricity stuff was that important, an engine runs on petrol!"

After the new bicycle brake pads becoming, pads, gears and bottom bracket incident, we'll make sure he has the correct guidance.

Ah but i've never touched my wiring. Ive left that to the hands of "professionals"
