I wouldn't mind getting someone that knows these cars to cast their expert eye over mine. Basically I'd like to know exactly what I've got spec wise. It was an early Blink Motorsport conversion and later updated to linkup by blink. Ive tried getting a hold of them but theres no number listed anywhere and they dont answer emails.
Ive an engine light standing(since knockhill a couple of weeks ago) that id like to get checked out. No idea what ecu it uses so not sure what software/hardware I need to check it.
Car goes great and I've a Dyno print out showing a healthy 228bhp. Would be good to know a bit more about the car though

Both mine are BLiNK conversions, but pre Llink-Up. Rich is got converting cars anymore, but you are likely to have a used UK type-R engine conversion as opposed to my new JDM spec. You can tell by the gear ratios, the JDM had lower 4,5, and six gears, and also had an LSD.
Find a clear road and hold a steady 4000rpm in 6th gear. With a JDM engine you would be doing 75 mph, with a UK just over 80. 3000rpm would be 56 or 61.
BLiNK cars came with the original Honda ECU that was not modified at all, but if yours has a Link-Up upgrade it is likely that yours has a Scuffham map in it. 228hp is a very good output as in the Civic it was 197, or 220 from the JDM. You must have an S2 if you have a warning light, so you would just need an OBD2 reader, laptop and software to read you fault codes. A few on here have them, including I think Craig just up the road from me.
Feel free to call round to Old Deer at anytime if you would like me to check the installation out for you.

Hi dipper, Im no expert on the honda conversions but I have a code reader for OBD 2 if your around Elgin anytime, will be refitting Elise gearbox and suspension for the next couple of days.

Remember the wheel size difference if Dipper's car is an S2. Hence gearing effectively a bit longer...
S1, 16" rear wheel

3000rpm in 6th gear, JDM engine would be doing 60 mph, UK 63.5.

Best to start of with Engine number, you'll need a mirror to see it if the engine is installed in the car. It's on the inlet side, close to gearbox. You will have a set of larger letter stamped into the block. It will be either K20A for JDM or K20A2 for british spec.
I would then confirm which ECU is in the car, unplug and check serial number. You will have either a PRA/B/C or D, whilst out check for a milled hole in the casing with a USB plug to confirm if you have a Hondata.
Start with that

Dont think its a Hondata guys. I'd asked him to check for the hondata usb hole but he had a look and couldnt see one. Told him better ask the experts.

No Hondata (or other any other after market ECU) and he'll need to use the Diagnostic Plug. That if it's been wired up, most i've looked at don't.mikeyb13 wrote:Dont think its a Hondata guys. Alan, I thought it was only the K-Pro that has a USB connection, and that the standard Honda ECU had to be modified internally, i.e:- by one of the Link-UP installers, or Scuffers himself.

K100 has the USB but you can't modify the map. K100 is effectively a licence Key for Hondata software, nothing more/less than that.
if the mil is on, then chances are the Lambda has a problem, either the sensor itself, it the wiring to it, good as they are, they can take a battering with extended track use.
Oh, and most (if not all) Link-Up looms do not reassign the Lotus OBD port tot he Honda ECU so using an OBD reader is pointless without this being done (and before somebody askes why it was not done as standard, it was a deliberate decision based on the long term MOT advice from Vosa).

What did Lowell(Foz01) have then?, genuine question. He had a Hondata ECU with an USB, but the software would not connect to it. So K100 has no USB, and no way of connecting to the ECU to look at live data/fault codes ? unless the OBD plug is wired up (which none I've looked at are). Poor average Joe mechanic trying to investigate a MIL light

As for poor mechanic, hardly, it's not rocket science to diagnose a problem, it's all documented in the Honda HELM manual, and all you actually need is a £2 multi-meter.
I would like to think any mechanic would have the know-how to do this kind of basic stuff?
