Following on from Mikeys post - what wrap are people using??

My heat shield has died so just going to wrap rather than replace the shield which will just perish again in a few years

Saw from another post that this is recommended by Jim at 2bular

Im thinking of using this place. Read a few reviews on Pistonheads and they were all positive.
Not cheap. But seems effective.

Heat shield will last longer than any wrap...

That's what I've put on mine. Looks good at the moment but I doubt it'll last long. If I still had the rear panel on mine I'd just be replacing the heat shield as the wraps not much cheaper and wont last half as long. Is yours not still under warranty?

Nope car is over 4 years old now so will have to replace it - the shield was knackerd last year but MMC just did a temp fix with some cable ties but it now appears to have totally perished so either replace or heat wrap for the cheaper option - think the heat shield is about £180 from memory so not that cheap given it only lasted about 3 years from new

Car also needs discs, pads, MOT, wiper, coolant change, geo etc so costs begining to mount up..............

If its just the U-bend heat shield then that's about £100 (£44+VAT per half from Deroure). The wrap is cheaper but I'm not sure how easy it would be to do it with the exhaust on the car.

It is also possible to break the exhaust with the wrap if you wind it too tight, in my experience.

Buy the proper heatshield.

I have just wrapped my Europa exhaust. Previously wrapped the exhaust on a race car. I recently purchased the wrap from a marine supplier - it is cheaper than from a motorsport supplier. The job is pretty simple.
